We had a great stay at the hotel with our baby. The staff were very helpful including the concierge Jav Luo who helped us pay our driver when our Ali Pay wasn’t working when we arrived.

Excellent Experience at the Novotel Peace Beijing

I came to Beijing with my family and we stayed at the Novotel Peace Beijing. The hotel location is excellent, downtown and close to numerous must visit sites like the Forbidden City. Public transport is very convenient, close to 2 metro stations Dengshikou station Line 5 and Jinyu Hutong station Line 8, both stations walkable from hotel within 5 minutes. Even though the interior of the hotel looks dated, it is well maintained and clean. We stayed at the Premier Floor and the staff of Executive Lounge are friendly, efficient and serve from their hearts. We are happy to meet Miss Wang Dong Qiong, Miss Hao Zi Jia, Mr Jia Dong Qi and Chef Su Man. Keep up the excellent service!

Novotel Beijing Peace hotel, the heart of Beijing!!!

For first timers in Beijing finding the right hotel is of utmost importance. We were looking for someplace near the city center, malls, dining areas, near Metro stations and most specially affordable!!! Luckily we found in Agoda with also an Excellent review - Novotel Beijing Peace hotel!!!. As a global brand and an iconic landmark in Beijing which was established in 1952 its a combination of both classic and modern standards. Right at the intersection of 3 metro stations within walking distance from the hotel - Jinyu Hutong, Dengshikou, and Wangfujing because this hotel is right at Beijing’s entertainment, food and shopping district of Wangfujing. At first, we have no idea that we are right at the heart of all Beijing’s commercial and entertainment district that how convenient the hotel’s location is!!! We booked a Superior King room at 110 SGD per night for a 4 star hotel and at 24 sqm what a great deal it was!!! We didn’t avail of their breakfast but there are plenty of food options outside including a nearby Family mart, Starbucks, Mcdonald’s to name a few. Local choices are also plentiful especially at the western side of the hotel near Dengshikou station. Upon arriving at Beijing Dangxi airport, we took the Dangix Airport express to Caoqiao station which took about 40 mins then transferred to line 10 at alighted at Dengshikou station for about 20 mins and from there we walked eastwards for about 10 mins to our hotel. We didn’t explore the Jinyu Hutong way, bus and private hire/taxi will cost around 260 rmb but their your alternatives. The Dangxi airport express ticket costs about 3 SGD dollars only what a deal!! Upon arriving, check-in was fast and smooth and they allowed us almost 4 hours early check-in what a good surprise it was because we were also very sleepy from a red eye flight so were truly grateful!!! Other countries for ex won’t allow early check-in for free. Our room was located on the 2nd floor west of the Grandstairs and we have the street view of Jinyu Hutong. The theme of the hotel is classic and tone of Yellow and Blue. As mentioned, our room was ready and quite spacious at 24 sqm. It was very clean and tidy when we entered. The wardrobe is right on your left upon entering with lots of compartments and a safety lock which is a plus for me. The provide free slippers, sleeping robes and clothes hangers at this side and it has an automatic lights. Across the wardrobe to your right is their uniquely designed toilet - a dry type with shower divided by a wall from the sink/toilet side. They have beige tilings and just like the room its pretty neat upon entering. The shower offers both rainfall and ordinary type and water heating/pressure is working perfectly/strong. Shower area is also pretty big enough to fit 2 people. The ink was a huge portrait mirror with lighting and they provide complimentary toiletries. The toilet has no bidet similar to western styles. Next to the wardrobe is the mini-bar divided into 3 glass separated compartments equipped with room fridge, kettle and complimentary cups/coffee/tea/bottled water which were replenished 4 pieces daily enough for us not even to buy our waters daily thanks for this generosity Novotel Beijing!!! This mini-bar is perhaps one of the most spacious we ever had in a hotel and its has bright lighting too. There is a wooden baggage compartment next to the mini-bar now part of the bedroom area which is Blue carpeted. They have a wall mounted flat screen TV next inside a wooden compartment with lots of local channels plus CNN. There is a brown wooden study table below with power outlets and a modern silver metal table lamp. They provide 2 purple lounge chairs which is quite big for us yet their comfy and relaxing not sure though if they add better aesthetics to the overall tone of the room. Next is their huge floor to ceiling glass window with a brown blackout curtain which surprisingly adds aesthetics to the room. Finally, perhaps the best part of the room and our favourite is their King bed - massive, right firmness, have thick/comfy/clean/soft blankets, 4 fluffy/relaxing/silkly/big pillows what else could you ask for!!! After a tiring day of touring, perhaps having this incredible King bed is what our body and minds are looking for - we did have a very great/sound sleep in our bed. There are 2 side tables custom built attached to the bed and the brown wooden head rest. I loved the modern small movable table lamps attached to the wall and have power outlets on each side which is a big plus for us!!! Lighting is also cozy and comfy and airconditioning is also self-controlled, easy to manage/regulate and working perfectly!!! In fact, we had most of our dinners and breakfast in our room, we didn’t avail the latter because that’s how we loved our room - it exceed all our expectations and just what we are looking for in a room - comfort and convenience!!! The hotels offers daily housekeeping, has indoor pool, gym, spa, event rooms and bar/cafe/restaurant (french) but we didn’t try them because our days are packed and busy. Check-out was also quick and easy just like check-in. And finally, to cap our Excellent review - we loved their Grandious and Elegant lobby especially the huge flower vase right at the center of a marbled flooring between the lobby/grand staircase and the lobby bar. I also loved that in lieu of a massive chandelier they have a circular space with cozy lighting on top of the lobby and huge white Roman columns surrounding this space adding color to the overall aesthetic/classic design of the hotel. The staff also could speak English so there won’t be any issue in communicating and their very helpful and accommodating. This hotel was a big disappointment and does not live up to the Accor Novotel name. After checking in we were shocked by the poor quality of our room. It was old, the decor was broken and furniture damaged, the bedding had holes and marks and the curtains did not fit so jot blackout as stated. The bathroom was horrible, the bathtub was dirty and the light fixture had loose wires. The rooms and floor also smelt bad and of smoke even though it was a non smoking floor. Returning to reception to discuss this, the staff did not seem surprised by this quality and there was actually another guest complaining about the same issue and quoting that the room does not match the website photos which it does not! We were changed to another room with a better bathroom however the “upgraded” decoration was still poorly done, furniture was still damaged and I the room was not of 4 star quality. The staff were not especially helpful or understanding and apologetic about these situations. Breakfast was okay. I would not stay here again or recommend. They need to perform many upgrades with a much better quality and standard.

Stayed in Novotel Peace Beijing for 8 nights. Hotel is relatively old but well maintained. Hotel staff are very friendly and responsive to requests. Premier lounge staff, Ms Guo annd Ms Hao, are very hospitable and attentive to guest. Overall a very pleasant stay. Will return another day.
